All is Fair in Love and War
As the saying goes, "All is fair in love and war". One thing you will learn about love is that it can either make you grow or damage you completely. It is the most tender of things and on the flipside, it can lead to crimes of passion. You can say, "God is love" and at the same time say that "love is overrated". It is both a paradox and an irony. I'm sure I have read somewhere that it is like a stick-- at one end love, and on the other end hate. If you pick up one end, you will inevitable pick up the other. Everybody has his/her own meaning of it, that is why there is no clear definition. It can radicalize you or it can make you numb. It can make you happy, and at the same time bring you pain. It is what you will choose it to be, either consciously or unconsciously.
It begins as an attraction, a hint of intimacy and even seduction. Attraction in the beginning is innocent. It has no idea how to express itselt. A hint of intimacy is like seduction in the early stages. You move in to someone's personal space and sort of invades that space. You are too close for comfort. And that other persons may wrongly interpret it as a 'hint of intimacy'. Seduction is simply the advance form of the 'hint'. And as time passes, emotions grow deeper and deeper just like everthing else. And before you know it, you have place yourself in the deep well of things. You will either deny it or embrace it. It gets complicated how we deny it one time and embrace it another time. You will deny it because he is your boyfriends brother, your best friends girlfriend or she is married. She is a slut. Or he is a womanizer. Or you are afraid because of what happened in the past. There are a thousand reasons. Or you can simply embrace it and deal with the consequence later.
Love is too great to have you unchanged when you experience it. It can damage you to your core. You can bury and deny it because you have another unique characteristic-- you can look at it in the future and be afraid of it now. It is your most basic tendency. But love will find a way out.
And though we are in a season of love and happiness. Some are celebrating the irony of it.
